Default Beat brake upgrades

I am in the middle of a full brake upgrade. I am biasing my braking a little to the rear as my rear tyres are 195/45/15 and my front 165/55/14

Rear

I have fitted this to the rear of my daily drive and all good.

S2000 calipers 13CLP15S
Civic FD 2006 caliper mounts.
DBA2502 rotors 260mm diameter, 48mm high, 61mm centre hole, 4x100pcd, solid.
Im waiting more aggressive rear pad EBC yellow stuff.
The hand brake cable has the wrong end. I used a 5mm bolt to replace the pin, it works well so now I will machine a couple of SS pins up.

All this bolts up without any modification. Hydraulic lines bolt up no problems.


Front
On the bench I have mounted 2004 GD Jazz rotor & caliper which bolt up to the Beat hub without modification. (only the edge of the dust shield needs flattening)

Caliper 15CL13VN


My 231mm rotors arrived this morning NIBK RN1350V from fitinpart.sg perfect, now I need calipers and mounts.

Previously I installed a Fastbrakes 11" Prelude big brake upgrade on my other Beat. It was good quality, fitted and worked well. I rewrote the instructions to suit the Beat install.


Block the front wheels to prevent vehicle movement.
Jack up the rear of the vehicle and place on secure jack stands.
Remove the rear wheels
With hand brake on remove the two phillips screws holding the rotor to the hub. NOTE: You WILL need to use an impact driver to loosen the screws.
Release hand brake.
Disassemble the rear brakes. This procedure is the same between the right and left sides.
Remove the bolt holding the brake hose to the suspension.
Remove the two 12mm bolts that attach the caliper to the bracket. Hang the caliper away from the area with tie wraps. Make sure the caliper is not hanging by the brake hose. Remove the caliper bracket and pads.

If the rotor does not come off easily, use two 8x1.25 bolts and suitable puller to separate the rotor and the hub.
Remove any rust from around the hub.

Install the hub ring with the radius side toward the hub. DO NOT FORCE THE RING ONTO THE HUB, IT WILL DISTORT. Apply loctite 609 to both the hub and ring. If the ring does not have a tight fit you can flatten the ring slightly to make it hold onto the hub.

Installing the kit.

Do not allow any grease, oil, or brake fluid to contact the brake rotor or brake pads. If any parts become contaminated, clean them with brake parts cleaner. If the brake pads are heavily contaminated, discard them and use new pads.

Using the socket head cap screws and spring washers, attach the caliper adapter to the inside of the trailing arm. (SEE PICTURE) The thicker portion of the adaptor goes to the front, with the thinner portion on the inside of the trailing arm. Insert the bolts from the outside of the trailing arm, through the holes into the adaptor bracket. Apply Loctite PN 242 Blue (242 unavailable in AU now 243) or a similar thread locking product, to the threads. Torque the bolts to 30 lb-ft. DO NOT OVERTORQUE THE BOLTS!

Clean the rotor using brake cleaner to ensure all grease and oil are removed.
Install the rotor making sure it seats against the hub. Use a lug nut to hold it in place.
The 2 original phillips screws will NOT be used to hold the rotor to the hub.

Install the caliper bracket over the rotor, securing it using the long bolts supplied with the kit and original spring washers. Apply Loctite PN 242 Blue (242 unavailable in AU now 243) or a similar thread locking product to the threads. DO NOT tighten the bolts at this time.

NOTE: On some applications a spacer is required to centre the caliper over the rotor. The spacer will go between the caliper and the adaptor bracket. Use the extra washers supplied with the kit.

NOTE: Some clearance may be needed on the bottom of the FACTORY caliper bracket to clear the cap screw heads holding the adaptor bracket to the trailing arm. Remove the material from the bracket using a file or dremel type tool.

Retract the caliper piston into the caliper by twisting the piston clockwise.

Use an appropriate tool or a large screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the piston seal or the piston.

Install the brake pads on each side of the rotor. Install the caliper over the rotor, securing it to the caliper bracket using the 12mm stock bolts. Make sure the pin on the inner pad is in the groove of the caliper piston. Tighten the 12mm bolts to 23 lb-ft of torque. Tighten the caliper bracket 17mm bolts to 30 lb-ft of torque.

Install the brake line on the bracket on the suspension. Due to the various production changes, the bracket used to hold the hose in place may not work. If you can't EASILY reattach the hose to the bracket, you will either have to modify the bracket. Whichever bracket is used to secure the brake hose, make sure there is no tension on the hose. It should still be able to move a small amount.

Pump the brakes several times to push the piston against the rotor.

Brakes should be bedded in as per manufacturers specifications.

WARNING: Please read before driving the vehicle
Fastbrakes™ brake kits substantially increase the stopping power of a vehicle. On vehicles equipped with ABS the braking performance will be greatly increased. Non ABS equipped vehicles can also realize the same braking performance with practice. Fastbrakes™ recommends that persons driving non ABS equipped vehicles with Fastbrakes™ braking systems use caution in rapid and hard application of the brakes, until they are familiar with the increased braking capabilities. Maximum braking power occurs just before, the wheel locks up.

The braking efficiency of the vehicle is determined by many factors, including road surface condition and tires. If tires are worn to where they don't provide maximum adhesion to the road surface, the Fastbrakes™ system will not provide maximum stopping capabilities. The use of wider and higher gripping capacity tires will enhance the ability of the Fastbrakes™ system to reduce stopping distances.
