only one fan cuts on
i have a 95 Honda Accord 4cyl i replace one fan (radiator one) it does not cut on, car overheating when at a stop...what should i do? had to replace upper radiator hose last sunday and i know i need to get the radiator flushed but i know that fan should be running while the car is on..the second fan cuts on after i turn car off...please help me
Sounds like it might be the fan switch. Disconnect the connector for part 16 in this diagram. WATER PUMP - SENSOR for 1995 Honda ACCORD SEDAN
Turn the ignition to on but don't start the car. Take a paperclip or something metal and jumper the connector. If the fans turn on then the problem is that fan switch(part 16). Buy it directly from Honda. Don't buy a parts store fan switch, they don't hold up long.
Drain coolant. Replace that part, should be a 19mm head.
Then you need to refill the coolant. Buy 50/50 coolant. Turn the heater **** in the car to full red. Crack open part number 12 in the above diagram about a half a turn. Fill the radiator until coolant comes out of part number 12 in the above diagram. Immediately close part number 12 in the above diagram. Continue filling the radiator til it's full. Put the cap on. Idle the car until the fans come on or the car starts to overheat. It's shouldn't overheat.

How are you sure the fan isn't working when you come to a stop?
Try popping your hood starting your car turn on ac, check under the hood, are both fans running?
what's the avg temp where you live?if its cold enough the fan turning on after turning car off sounds fine, the sensor isn't getting hot enough to trigger fan until the cooling stops.that's a stretch but possible. Start small detail well

You can buy some jumpers and take the signal directly from the battery to the fan plug. Disconnect the battery. Disconnect the electrical connection to the fans. Connect the positive lead of the battery to one of the two electrical connections inside the plug for the fans, then connect the other wire to the negative plug, and connect the other end of it to the negative terminal of the battery or ground it on the engine block. If the fan doesn't come on, then the fan motor is dead and you need a new fan. You can buy a new fan from pretty much any auto parts store, or order one on line for less money if you can wait for it to be delivered. If you are really strapped for cash you can go to a junkyard and pull a good looking fan out of a car there and try that. It is also good practice for removing the fan from your car to do it in the junkyard first. There are youtube videos like this one
on how to replace the fan
