Default P73 vs P72 AC Mount

In searching for an AC mount to put AC back into my 98 R, I noticed that the P72 mount (USDM GSR) is substantially lighter/less beefy than the USDM ITR P73 mount, which is a solid cast iron piece.
See pics.

Does anybody know why, the ITR which is supposedly built for lightweight use, would use a much heavier mount?
Is there any reason (block rigidity, mount rigidity, etc.) to use the P73 mount?

Subscribed I'm looking into doing this too later down the road. Once I get her closer to where I want her to be. Please keep us posted if you find out elsewhere.

and as you stated the type r was suppose to be a race car......sooooo....if you are putting ac on why does it matter if the bracket has a few more pounds

I guess the question is more, why would Honda go through the effort to cast a new, heavier, part for the ITR when the lighter P72 part was already available? Is their a structural purpose? Does the idler pulley sit different and the mount need strength to support it at 8500 RPM?
Just curious if anybody has the scoop on this from years of ITR research.

Can't really help with your question but in semi relevant info the jdm ac bracket is iron, the non ac is the alloy one. But apparently the non ac can be drilled/tapped/ground down to attach ac

Hey bambrose I came across this part listing from icb. According to the item description there were 3 variations of this part. Maybe the R's got the full aluminum which would make sense.

Full Cast Iron = 7lbs.
Hollowed Cast Iron = 6lbs.
Full Aluminum Mount = 2.4lbs

Correct, however most of the ITR (UDSM and JDM swaps) have the full cast iron part. I'm not sure what exactly the aluminum came on from the factory, be it the EK9 or the AC-less ITR motors. I find it interesting that honda would even make the full cast iron part when the hollowed part is lighter and readily available. I'm sure there is a reason that only the engineers would know.

It appears the Aluminum bracket is made for a different compressor than the two Iron options (the 4 bolt holes align differently). The ICB listing says it will works in place of the Del Sol or CRV mount for swaps. It appears to be designed for a Sanden scroll compressor found on EG/EK Civics.....not the Denso piston compressor found on US-market Integras.
