Rough running, hard start, compression test results
My 02 accord DX has 180k miles. It burned about two quarts oil per tank of gas. It started running rough and hesitating at low rpm under load. This happens intermittently. I was happening last night and would lose power almost stalling consistently. Then it stalled and I couldn't get it started. I came back the next day and jumped it. I ran the pedal to the floor and turned it over. When it finally started it let out a lot of smoke out of the exhaust.
I checked the compression and got C1 158/270 C2 125/155 C3 145/185 C4 155/215.
I changed the spark plugs and air filter and it seems to be running better. I am thinking I have a blown head gasket between cylinders 2 and 3. Would this cause the engine to burn oil? Would this cause the hesitation I described and hard starting? Is there anything else I should check/do? I'm not sure if replacing the head gasket will be worth it.

This is the 1992-2000 civic forum bud.
But since you're already here, the engine sounds done. Did you overheat the engine at all? You can either replace the head gasket if there is actually milky oil, oil mixed in with coolant or vice versa. Or get a new engine
Oh and sounds like the piston rings have took a **** too id replace the motor.

Having it go from 155 to 270 means you used too much oil for the wet test. You should actually measure it, one teaspoon.
Considering the high oil consumption I would say that the reason for low compression especially #2 is that the piston rings are worn out. Head gasket blown between cylinders leads to much less than 100 on both, does not increase wet, and wouldn't cause oil burning.
The hard starting may be something unrelated to the internal engine, but when it burns 2 quarts oil for every tank it's not worth investigating anything other than replacing the engine or the car.
