Default A/C Pressure Switch?

07 Ridgeline about 147K. Noticed not cooling as original. Put on gauges and T-couples. In air about 95 F, out air about 78-80 F. Hi side about 150 psi showing no sub cool, lo side about 24 psi with superheat maybe 30+. Started adding R134 with pressures just starting in right direction when compressor and fans stopped. Thereafter they would start intermittently but only run a few seconds. After unhooking everything, started engine and worked several seconds blowing cool till compressor and fans kicked off again. Any thoughts considering the observed pressures?

This forum is for 1992 to 2000 model Civics. So if it were a Civic, pressure switch cuts out if the high side is below 50 or above 450. Neither of those should happen in normal operation, the switch stays closed all the time. Compressor and fans cycle on evaporator temperature.

Thanks. Don't know just how I ended up in this forum but your answer sounds good.
