Spoon header 4in2--Did they make a Spoon 2in1 section?
Spoon header 4in2--Did they make a Spoon 2in1 section?
I can't find info on this. The 4in2 seems to be available from many sources. And as far as I know, the oem down pipe section can be used. But a spoon downpipe would be way cooler. But I have no idea where to find one or if they even made it.

from my research, there is a downpipe.

I have done some more research on the JDM verses the Mugen versus the Spoon. The JDM has smaller primaries than the Mugen or Spoon.
They are 42.6mm outside diameter, the Mugen and Spoon use 44.8mm outside diameter primaries. The JDM has a 2.125 I.D. exit size, not the 2.5 in. that everyone thinks. It does expand up to 2.5 O.D. but it has to pass through a 2.125 diameter exit to get to the 2.5 diameter. The Mugen has a 1.875 I.D. exit diameter. The Spoon has a true 2.375 I.D. diameter exit.
^ That was in reference to the newer 4-2-1 Spoon header with much longer primaries and very short secondaries.
He (John) then goes on talk about 2 ITR owners and the header tube diameter and the role that it plays in power delivery.
Quote: HyTech's John Grudynski in MD's header article on HV I have a little story about 2 prospective clients that have new Type R's:
one is completely stock and the other has only a Mugen header and exhaust. They run them in drag racing and slalom them. The stock type R is always faster then the one with the Mugen on it. only when they run them at high speed does the Mugen pull a little better. Which correlates with the dyno sheet, that they lose low and midrange power for a little gain on the top. Needless to say he isn't very happy with the money he spent....I have not seen any tests on the Spoon but I can guess that it might be a little better than the Mugen but not much.
The {Spoon} collector is too short to provide and real tri-y effect and the primaries are to big out of the port like the Mugen, which cause a drop in velocity at the most important point, right out of the head. And this is what hurts the low and mid range power...

Tried calling IPS, no answer. Sent an email. Not sure if they are even real or not. We'll see. They have a lot of rare parts listed which I doubt are actually in stock.
Memorial Day they are closed. They are real or were at one point in time. They are the original Spoon source in the US.
Very real. Ordered all of the time. Memorial Day is a National Holiday, and therefore, would be closed.. E-mail is best.

From what I remember with SPOON in the day (I still have the original 4-2 version), they never changed that style like the other aftermarket companies. I remember it being very much like the MUGEN header, but that was it. They never came out with another version outside of the original.
Here's the Mugen on my friend's car. I have to get another photo of the SPOON one we have.

You can also check the official SPOON thread.

Called IPS. Their website is not updated. The spoon downpipe is not in stock (discontinued). Same with a lot of other parts they have listed. Too good to be true. A lot of websites with ITR parts are like that, they list it for sale but then they don't have it. It's annoying.
Many SPOON parts are discontinued and have been since about 2010. Sometimes a few parts trickle in, (which is why IPS may not change their site much), but for the cost to them, many are not willing to pay the money expected for a "Name Brand" like Mugen or SPOON. They'd rather go for the T*DA Replica or a Skunk2 Alpha. It's not like it was years ago for a 20yr old + platform.
Those of us that have them, just aren't re-selling them.

IIRC Spoon discontinued the 4-2 for the B18C long ago. Not sure if they had a 2-1 down pipe. They were phasing out 2 piece headers in the mid-2000's so finding a legit one my be quite difficult. The Great Header Test thread may have more details. There was debate back then about the which was better. 2 piece vs. 1 piece and 4-1 vs. 4-2-1
Interesting to hear John speak about the short collector on the 1 piece 4-2-1. It almost looks like a 4-1 but closer inspection shows that it splits right near the collector. Mikey B bought one recently and made some comments about it in his thread. Comparing it to a true tri-y header and saying that Spoon's design sort of hindered performance is an interesting piece of information.

No. I have the "One Piece" SPOON. Similar to the MUGEN. It came with the exhaust gasket donut (very large) and I barely had to worry about room to fit my 2.5" Random Technologies Cat-Converter and exhaust system.

Good man!! I'm trying to get a hold of another SPOON Source for the last of my bits.. Where'd you order through if I may ask?
