New guy 93 Del Sol
Hi all
I have watched and lurked in the background for some time now and used the search to find and repair my little Del Sol over the past couple years, But now I have a problem that the search isn't getting me ALL the answers I need. first off I am a diesel mechanic so I have a pretty good grasp on things. However I'm having trouble with getting to the bottom of this code 43
Yep the dreaded code 43. OK I get what the usual suspects are and I get that each won't code on it's own IE fuel press reg. 02 sensor, injectors
SO what I'm trying to figure out is how do I narrow it down without just throwing parts at it
OK little history
bought the car, someone had been working on turning it into a tuner, seems it got wrecked then fixed and flipped (my fault for not looking closer when I bought it) anyway everything has been stripped from motor except alternator. it looks to have an aftermarket fuel rail and it has the cold air intake added. it has custom exhaust from the header back, header looks stock
So what is happening is after running a bit when you stop or just slow way down the car starts running like crap if it's under 2K and a lot of times it will trip the engine light but not always
and the old turn key off then back on will reset it until the next time
I loosened the gas cap and tried that, still does it so I think I can remove it from the list
Now if I unplug the 02 after a min or 2 it starts running real rough, just like what it does, plugging it back up doesn't fix it, I have to shut engine off and restart
I'm guessing this means it's working but not 100% sure.
so is there a way to test the fuel reg.
is there a way to test the injectors other than doing the olhm test
being a tech I don't want to just throw parts at it
any help or insight would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Ace

You can noid light test the injectors to be sure they are receiving the pulse signals. You can also pull out the injectors and test them for spray pattern and functionality.
Here is the FSM for the civic 92-95 motors, The Del Sol should be the same D15B7 motor unless you have the rare Si with the DOHC motor. This tells you how to test the regulator and fuel pressure:

Which motor is in the car? Is it the D16Z6 SOHC vtec motor?
For some reason my brain was saying the Sol SI was the DOHC B16A2 motor.
If it's the D16Z6, the diagram up top is still factory spec as that is the same motor in the Civic SI 92-95.

honestly I thought it was the B16A2 but I didn't think it was a DOHC so maybe it's not
now you have me more curious about it, I will have to go check it out
I have never been into the motor,so far biggest thing I have had to do was replace the clutch
I bought it for my wife as she fell in love with it. I hardly ever drive it as I ride a bike
but I have to keep it running good for her and this issue has been driving me crazy
although I have to admit I really like driving it in the summer when I can pull the top and drop all the windows
