I just wanted to leave this here for anyone who is having trouble with this. All of the part numbers listed at parts stores for this vehicle are wrong!

The flange on my car looks like this:


The part number listed by Honda for this F22A4 is 18212-SB2-961.
Of course, it was a weekend and I didn't have time to wait for the dealership to open, so I had to go to parts stores. This ended up being a big waste of time. In the end I found the correct part just by visually searching through the exhaust gasket bins at the parts store.

The OEM gasket looks like this. Note that it is not round. It is flat on one side and raised on the other side, with a lengthwise cut that allows it to be crushed.



The aftermarket cross-reference number is EG24758.
You can see here that the compatibility list at one parts store does not include the 1990 Accord EX F22A4: ROL Gaskets EG24758 - Exhaust Gasket | O'Reilly Auto Parts
Only earlier 2.0L and later V6 models are indicated.

Your parts store probably has this item but you will have to search or ask for it by number.

I hope this helps someone waste less time than I did. Perhaps it has something to do with my car being built in 1989 for the 1990 model year such that I ended up with an early-run configuration.

the only thing to note for only the 90 is that the DX/LX use a different gasket than the EX...the 91-93 have the SE to worry about which simply has the same exhaust as the EX

 

Scratch that. The donuts I used last year must have been in the wrong box or something. I got Felpro 60578 (which EG24758 crosses to) and they didn't fit at all. It's Walker 31377 which fit perfectly in the end!

Why am I back here? I hit my downpipe on a dip in the street and it stripped two of the downpipe studs...

 

Had that problem too about a year ago.
Needed the crush gaskets for an EX style twin tube down pipe, but the package had two of the 'DX/LX' single tube down pipe gaskets. Ended up ordering the MAHLE brand. Don't have the part numbers off the top of my head, but there definitely was some weirdness going around with part numbers and packaging..

Looked at the older posts, didn't see anything unusual, so I'm guessing there may have been a mod deleted post/thread? Just wondering if anyone saw what went down.

 

I thought it sort of odd myself, but I never saw anything else.
