Post Overheated today.

So I saw that the temp gauge went high and I saw some smoke coming from the hood. Pulled over and noticed that there wasnt any coolant left. Under the car there was a bunch running out. Its the passenger side and back some from the front. I checked the hoses from the top of the engine, but they all looked fine. There was some coolant puddled where I marked in the picture, but I could not find the source. Any ideas and places I can look before I attempt to find the issue tomorrow? Thanks.

check coolant hoses and thermostat for leaks

or just fill your rad, let it run and see where it comes from?

That is what I'll be doing today. It has a steady drip that will hopefully show the source.

What about it? I have had that off, if I remember right, to clean it before. What would happen to it to cause overheating?

My first thought would be either the lower rad hose at the thermostat housing, or one of the small lines that run to the iacv and fitv, but you also have a heater line on that side of the head, the bleeder screw etc, many possibilities for a leak.

If you don't find it right away, rent a pressure tester, and use that, but I would guess that a new set of rad hoses, and maybe a new thermostat is in order. Hopefully you didn't let it get hot enough to damage anything else.
