1993 integra b18a1 poor acceleration, kind of a throaty sound under hard acceleration
Been having some issues with my integra it's having pretty bad acceleration if I try to accelerate hard it will also have a weird throaty or deep hissing kind of sound under hard acceleration. Also seems to be burning a little bit more gas than usual.
During regular acceleration the car runs fine with no issues and sound great. And I can't hear the throaty/hissing sound or notice any lack of power or anything like that.
Isn't burning any oil or leaking coolant, the headgasket has sealed good no oil in coolant or vise versa or wet plugs or anything like that.
Running at a good running temperature and is idling fine, no misfires or anything like that.
I'm thinking it could be the dizzy, or maybe the intake manifold gasket is leaking, or maybe the injectors. Or maybe it's the timing as I don't have a timing gun to check it, I just set everything at top dead centre and put it all together double checked and it was all lining up.
Any ideas on what this could be? Engine is a b18a1 5 speed. 260xxxkms. Recently got a new starter, alternator, ECT sensor and a headgasket.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks.

That is not how you set timing on the engine by lining up the cams to tdc, with the dizzy straight in you will be close or off but you need to set ignition timing properly with a gun and jumping the plug to allow you to set the timing without the ecu interfering. Sounds like this is deff your issue before you look any further into it.
I just got back to you on my other thread and I'm pretty sure I have figured out the problem now.
I'm going to check what I'm suspecting tomorrow and if it isn't that, than the only thing I can think of is the Timing or maybe injectors/fuel issue.
I know the timing still has to be off a bit, but I don't have my own timing gun to check it right now and it's a lot better now than it was.

chances are 50 50 if the gasket you made was the right shape and you torqued it down right but if that was the case you would have a noticeable vac leak with a surging idle mist likely. Double check if the mech timing didn't slip a tooth on the cam gears. Sounds timing related.
And is there any check engine codes?
if you have a aftermarket cold air intake they are known to have a whistle at higher rpm.

And if I'm just casually driving doing light pulls I don't hear the sound and I can go through the rpms with no issues, it's as soon as I hammer down on the throttle that I hear the sound and it loses power, it's like the gasket is holding good until there is too much pressure from me hitting the throttle and it starts leaking.
Basically the engine is running 100% fine through all rpms In all gears, it's just when I go above maybe 50-60% throttle then then it all happens. Which makes me believe it's not the timing any more, but I could definitely be wrong.
The hissing sound will happen even at low rpms like 2-3 or 4k as long as I hit the throttle and I can forsure tell it's not the Cai.

I'd check the air intake for leaks. Very well could be a loose clamp or bad vacuum hose. I'd absolutely check the ignition timing. Personally, I had an issue with platinum plugs failing consistently. Copper NGKs have been much more dependable! I know that removal of the intake tube, will make the car sound "throaty" so inspect that intake hose closely at the flexible area for cracks, as well as other vacuums attached to it.
