do lighter rims make a big diffrence
I wanted to know how big of a difference do lighter rims make i have 17 tenzo shu4's i was wondering if i get lighter rims how much difference can i expect
The reason why people with cars like ours want light rims is because of unsprung weight. The less weight, the better!
If you have really heavy wheels (20+lbs) and go to a 10lb wheel, I would say that would be very noticable! It would be just as noticable as going from an OEM flywheel to a lightened one...
My recommendation is to get a set of 16" Rota Slipstreams or 15" Konig Heliums.
They're both light and look good...

I went from heavy *** 17" (45 lbs with tires) to 12 pound rotas and from a stock flywheel to a fidanza 7.5 lb one and my god, oh the difference! there is so much more grip with a smaller diameter wheel (when launching) and i definatly notice a difference in acceleration... do to the lighter wheels and light weight flywheel.
Get some light weight wheel, you wont be disapointed

I noticed a big difference in my brothers sentra. With the stock wheels and tires with the Stillen I/H/E, he could chirp 3-4 without much of a problem, but with his "upgraded" 18's, he couldn't even chirp 1-2, and it was mainly due to the fact that the wheels were fuggin heavy, but the little bit more grip he got from the new tires wasn't helping either. I'm sure that going to a lighter and smaller wheel will help with acceleration, and going with some good, sticky rubber, you'll corner better. HTH and makes sense.
Yes. They make a big difference. On my old BMW I went from light *** 14" wheels/tires to big *** heavy 24lb 17in wheels/tires and it was quite a bit slower. It was harder to burnout, it was slower on a rolling drop, but the tires did grip quite a bit more. Overall the whole car feels more nimble with lighter wheels.

If the right tire size was put on the aftermarket rims ... it should compensate for the the increased diameter of the wheel ... your main concern is the increased weight of the rotating mass ..
Ok what kinda of "difference" are you talking about. i.e. why do you want light rims and why did you get heavy 17's in the first place. I know why i have light rims, just wondering why you want light rims???
i got these rims with the car i have never had stock rims on my gsr
i was thinking of taking the 14" steelies off my brothers civic and puting those instead of my 17" shu4's

try this: go put on some heavy steel toes boots and run around the block. then come back home and put on some nike cross trainers or some new balance and do it again. tell me which lap feels quicker???????
try it! id say its worth the 15 minutes. i put 17s on my car from the stock steelies and my *** dyno was really disappointed.

great analogy
lighter rims will make a world of diffrence when i got my rota's my car felt better in make diffrent apsects accleration and braking were improved. that alone imo is reason enought to upgrade to a lighter set.
took my heavy a$$ tsw's (18 lbs a piece) and put on my 15 in sub zero's (12 lbs) also have a 11lb flywheel in with both rims ...difference is noticeable for sure.

Lighter rims also make your suspension much nicer. Not even aftermarket shocks and springs had 20+ lb rims in mind when they were designed. I ditched my 22lb 17's for reasonably light 15in Si rims and really noticed how much more responsive my suspension was. FYI I am running Koni yellows and Pro kits.
