93 Civic - oil leak
Hiya. Kinda new to Civics, looking for a little info. I have a 93 Civic LX a/t with a 1.5l (I believe engine) as my daily driver. It recently started leaking oil from around the oil pan gasket area. My question is, how common is this? And what should I look for aside from the oil pan for a possible source of the leak? I've checked the oil filter (wtf is up with that location, btw? I'm guessing a meth lab in the Honda factory had something to do with that) and the head gasket / valve cover gasket. It's defiantly coming from the rear portion of the engine. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Welcome to the board, its good to see another person from tucson here.
its the oilpan and valvecover gasket. they are really easy to fix
all thats needed is some liquid gasket, or the worst case, you need 2 new gaskets.
they tend to leak alot.

OK - good. That's kind of what it looked like from underneath, but I was assuming the worst. I have enough RTV to be dangerous (I used to be a DSM guy - RTV is a staple of my tool box
, and I may just get a new gasket too and do it right. Thanks!
