97 DX shifter
This thing is bone stock. One of the first things I'd like to do is get new bushings in there. I found the Energy Suspension kit, nice and cheap - or are there others you'd recommend?
While I'm in there, I'd like to fix the centering springs too. They're much stronger on the 5-R side than the 1-2 side. Are these external or internal?
Lastly, and more on the odd note, I feel like the shifter is set a little far forward and low for me. Is there a dog legged shifter (not talking about a dogleg shift pattern) unit out there, shaped like the SN95/New Edge Mustang shifters? Or maybe just an old school bent one like you had on 60s muscle cars? Not concerned about long throws...I learned stick o a Ford T10 4-speed and drive a truck with an Eaton 10-speed now, so if anything I'm more at home with throws that stretch across half the county.
Sorry for the Noob questions. I really am a Noob to Hondas in every way, despite being a fair self-taught wrench.

Found this while searching around. Maybe this will solve the centering spring issue?

Also been looking at some of the shift extenders, plus the short throw stuff like B+M, etc. The extender won't really solve the problem I'm having, by merely raising the **** it looks like it would hit my hand on the dash on 1-3-5, and make those shifts end up even further away...?
The dual-bend aftermarket shifters look like they might offer something, but I can't tell where the **** ends up vs. stock. I'm not really all about the short throws, but if it gets the **** in a more comfortable place, I'm game. The FPR takes what I want to do and goes waaaay overboard, lol. I sure wish there were a dual-bend shifter extender.
Seriously, any suggestions would help. I don't know where to look for Honda stuff.
