how to replace collet on 94 accord lx
broken collet, shifter is loose and wont come out of 3rd gear. How do I access that interface to replace the collet?
Ive been under the car, and see where the two lines travel upward, but don't see how I can access this without first
dropping the exhaust pipe, then I don't see who to pull the panel where the two lines go up into the car.
Do I access from inside the car down? Rather than under the car going up? Car drives, but only in 3rd gear. Stick wiggles
loosely; no contol over movement in or out of gears.

Not sure what you mean by collet.
MT or AT cars to gain access to the shifter proper, remove the center console arm rest(two screws under the plate in the storage compartment), remove the cup holder(one more screw) to then the bezel surround for the shifter/radio(two screws)..

MT vs AT ; Mine is a 5 speed manual, up and back for 1 and 2, over to the right for 3 and back for 4, over to the right for 5 and back for Reverse. Ive pulled the console/radio, ****, and am looking at the plate/shift lever, and see the two cables running down to the trans.
The shift lever is very loose. One mechanic suggested broken cable. Symptom started after new transmission was installed. The shifter seemed loose, not tight like it's always been. Over the next two weeks the lever got increasingly more loose. Finally
I was parked on a steep downhill, and the shifter was just completely loose, but I was parked in 3rd Gear. I was able to drive home in 3rd gear, hitting all green lights, and have been parked ever since. Won't go into any other gear, and the shifter is like a loose tooth.
All "wiggles". Should i find a rebuild kit for the shift mechanism or replace both cables or both? We bought a new car, but I love my Accord. She's been the best car Ive purchased.

I assume MT is Manual and AT is automatic ? MT , in a H pattern shifting schematic. Purchased a Haynes manual, and it's not very implicit on Troubleshooting or helpful. This is something I would have just jumped into when I had my own workshop. Now im relegated to working in a driveway with
