Chirp when tapping pedal for hard accel AND happens while going over some bumps
I just replaced some bearings in my d16y7 thanks to the DIY ISB thread. I drive a '97 civic CX hatchback.
I did not have this chirp problem before, and I can replicate it easy (I don't want to though)
The sound happens when the engine jerks from a hard accel, or when im going slow over certain bumps, it can happen when the left or right tire goes over bumps, and it sounds like its coming from the front passenger side if I could pinpoint it from my driver seat.
This is the 2nd time I've pulled the tranny, the car has 205k miles now. However this time, the rear engine mount bolts would not go all the way in. I decided to order new bolts as I was literally about to pull the car off of jackstands with how much torque I was giving these bolts trying to sink them. It wasn't right, I ordered new bolts from the honda dealership and the bolts were a little bit shorter (WTF?) than the ones I had. I've been using them anyway as that is what the manual for my year says they should be.
To me, it seems like it has to be something with the mounts.
For example, if I'm going 35 in 2nd gear, when you would normally switch to 3rd, if I keep it in 2nd and tap the accel, the force from that jerk will make a CHIRP. As if a basketball player kicked his sneaker on the hardwood floor. It will also make the same chirp noise when I'm on an uphill and the car starts rolling backwards and I slam the breaks, it will chirp as I assume the engine is rocking and perhaps a bolt isn't tightened down enough or those bolts I ordered are incorrect?
If I am correct that it is something with the mounts, how do you go about finding which mount it is as I can only replicate the problem with the car moving.

Did you ever ever figure out what the problem was? One mechanic told me it may be the flex pipe. But I don't want to just throw money into the car. Thanks for your help

If you can replicate the sound by holding the brakes on while shifting into forward and reverse, have someone sit in the driver's seat and do that while you listen outside the car and try and localize the noise. Be sure to only stand beside the car so you can't get run over.
