So that is definitely different than the typical axle problem post...it would appear at first glance that the axle shaft was a touch too short and when the suspension travelled it allowed the end to pull out of the cup. That is pretty nasty...good luck!

that's the only thing I could think of too. Happened when coming down the driveway.
I'm wondering if when you were installing it you didn't accidentally pop the joint. Then when you drove it it simply binded up from the joint not being set correctly. Or perhaps it wasn't fully seated in the differential.

This. It doesn't take much outward force at all for the inboard joint to break. A separation at that point would cause the boot to twist up like that. It could've also came that way straight from the parts store. I got CV axle the other day that had already been installed by someone. The axle nut had already been punched, and the inner boot was all tore up.
