What is the average cost of a rebuilt replacement engine for a `98 Accord LX 4-dr v-tec automatic w/AC?

if cash-and-carry, short block or long block?

$1500 cash and carry long block is not unreasonable; $3000 installed

those are rough prices that vary greatly with local labor rates and the type of place doing the work (dealer would be different than some guy's garage you found on craigslist), and the quality of parts and machining.

98 Accord post in the 88~91 Civic area is like OP didn't even try.

google must not be available in their area so I guess I'll help.
there are F23A's to be found in the $500 range.
$600 on hmotors
