Hi, folks!
I have no problems with doing the swap at all. What I lack are some rather embarrassingly basic pieces of information. For instance, my 2001 DXVP came with the upgraded (part of the VP package) auto tranny. This is the only 6th Generation Accord I have any experience with. I would like to know which manual transmissions will bolt up to my engine. I have the non-VTEC F23A5, which is the base model box containing four angry squirrels as the motive power source. I believe this monster delivers a whopping 130 bhp and probably -42 ft/lbs of torque. Still, I *really* like this engine for a lot of reasons. I want to do the manual swap because I can easily rebuild a manual tranny but cannot work on the auto at all. The swap itself is not all that involved. (No welding/fabrication, etc.)
Here is the embarrassing part: I have been looking all day today for what specific manual tranny was used with the anemic F23A5. Again, this is the NON-VTEC low power suck box that lacks any impressive characteristics except that it runs well forever.
Please let me know what it is I need to be searching for, and which specific Hondas would have had one, including the years. Then I can assault my local Pick-N-Pull with a bag of tools to benefit from someone else's vehicular misfortune...
Thanks for any help. If you want to tell me to get another Accord with a 5 speed or you want to tell me how you think this is too much work then shame on you. It is MY car. If you feel a need to criticize my project start your own thread. I am just looking for assistance, not "guidance" thank you very much.
Here is a photo I took yesterday of my 290,000+ mile baby in all her Base Model Glory (and some sexy Civic "Blue Dyno Peal 2" paint) right after I had the Takata air bag bomb replaced.
Now, everyone smile real purty... :-)

I am going out on a limb and say that any 5 speed out of a 4 cyl 98-02 accord should work. Any 5 spd transmission from any f series motor will bolt up, but the 98-02 will bolt up and fit the car right. Tuning may be fun times for you. I am assuming the F23a5 was equipped with manual transmission in some vehicles. You will need that ecu to keep everything happy. With a parts car available, should be an easy enough swap for you. Good luck!
You can use any 90-02 Accord F series manual transmission with the exception of the H2A5 out of the 90-93 Wagons. You can also use any manual transmission out of a 92-96 Prelude or any 97-01 Prelude base(SH model transmissions will not work..). There are also a bunch of JDM options that work as well and most come with a factory LSD. So, depending on what you want and how deep your pockets are, you have plenty of options. If you want more pep and shorter gearing go for an H series transmission. If you want longer gears for fuel economy/cruising go for an F22/F23 transmission.
