Default B18c1 hybrid hatch Dyno results

I dynoed my car today, just finished the motor swap a couple days ago, have a:

2001gsr swap, skunk2 Intake manifold, skunk2 obd1 ecu, aem intake, si b-pipe and cat, stock muffler.
i got 144.3 hp and 114.3 torque in a 3rd gear pull till 8,000rpms

you guys think this is good or about right?, i was expecting alittle more maybe like 160, maybe i need to get a vafc and tune the ecu a bit its running rich.

edit: will have the chart up tomorrow, just gotta scan it.

With an AEM CAI, DC 4-2-1, Thermal catback, gutted cat, Skunk2 IM, ZEX flywheel and a 1st gen B16 ECU my B18C1 made 165.9/121.7 revving to 8000rpm.

thats the range i was hoping for, i guess a nice exhaust setup would help out alot. i might venture onto a 1st gen b16 ecu too? how did it run with the ecu?

exhaust may be ur downfall...
when i had my stock CX exhaust on my EK-GSR... it made
142hp... with my new thermal i made 154hp... forgot the tq #'s
the damn cx exhaust is a cork.

I would imagine your's should run better with the Skunk2 ecu with it's timing advance and whatever else that program does. I'm only using the B16 ecu because it's what I have to work with. It's actually a ZDYNE chipped 91 Civic Si ecu..it's chipped with the B16 program so that all I had to do for my swap was run 1 wire to the VTEC solenoid.

The car runs pretty good with the ecu. The only bad thing was the VTEC engagement being set at 5200. With that setting my torque dropped from 115ft/lbs @ 4800rpm to 105ft/lbs @ 5200 then shot up to 120ft/lbs at 5300. I have the engagement set at 4800 now via my AFC and it's smooth like butta.

Even now with 7.8psi of boost it still runs pretty good. A good exhaust could be whats holding you back. Good luck!

correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't you want to do the pull in 4th gear? the ratio is closer to 1.

I got mine done on a Mustang 4 dyno at Speednation in PA, which is more accurate than the dyno jets, but reads about 10% lower than the dyno jets. with my cam gears tuned and stuff i made like 148 whp which if you boost it up to the dyno which you guys ran on is like 160 - 165 whp. with my dyno plotted against type r's with boltons I am making about an average of 7, with a peak of 12 more horse power between 3 and 7 grand. I had about 4 hp less above that. over all, i am happy, and my car screams, especially when i hit the bottle

Most of the people at this dyno day say even this dyno was off. A few boosted people claimed that they made 10 hp more with the same mods on a different dyno.

thats damn nice for a b16a i guess with the cams it brought on some good power, and the header, does a header gain much on a dohc i am use to a sohc and the dc i bought for it really didnt do anything so i didnt get one for my hatch

b18c1
injen cai
jg header (2.5''collector)
highflow cat
crushbent 2.5'' piping
thermal straight thru muffler

i think the cams were responsible for most of the power, but yes the header made a noticable difference.

I made 181hp and 125 tq on a dynojet last Feburary.

I do have CTR cams, JDM 4-1, JDM ITR pistons and an ITR head though.

yea, but mustang dyno's do run a garaunteed 8 - 10% lower than dynajet. the mustangs are a lot more accurate. they are just four small drums that you can actually roll with your fingers. you can even do quarter mile runs on them. check out speednation.com if you are curious.
