I had to have my back glass replaced, now thetrunk light display, not the light itself stays on sometimes. After that my starter went out. I had it replaced by an unfamiliar mechanic. Coincidence or cause? After I got the starter replaced, my car died, like the lights and everythingwent out. First they said my battery terminals were just loose, tightened it and sent me on my way. Then it happened again (both times while driving). Later find out the new starter was defective. Was it the starter that caused my battery to drain or was it the trunk light display. Also, sometimes I can open my trunk, sometimes I can't.
Please help. I'm a lady and I don't know anything about cars.

The trunk light is controlled by a switch in the latch assembly. Unless you have the switch on the light fixture inside the trunk turned off, the same switch will cause the light inside the trunk to stay on which will drain your battery. You can tell this by opening the trunk and immediately feeling the light, if it is already hot it has been on the whole time.
