Power steering rack noise?
Hey guys, I have a 2005 Honda Civic Ex thats been properly maintained over the years. I recently noticed a slight sound (rubbing noise) when turning the wheel at slow speeds. Ive replaced ball bearings, control arm pushing, tie rods, suspension, axles, etc in the past year so I've narrowed down the sound to coming from what I believe is the POWER STEERING RACK. Anyone have any issues with this on an em2? please let me know. Im wondering if its lacking grease where the slider is... let me know your thoughts!
Not sure if this is same as your problem but my buddy has a 98 civic that would make a similar noise. Turned out the seals were gone. Removed the boots and fluid came pouring out. Needed new steering rack in the end.
I'd remove the boots and have a look

Okay cool, I'm going to try that. I really do believe the noise is coming from the rack so if thats the issue then ill replace the rack all together as well. Thanks for the heads up
