95 civic, smoke is rising from the shifter knob
Earlier today I was out with my buddies in my rice burner and I was in 3rd gear at around 6k rpms I saw white smoke start to rise from the shifter **** area, im new to cars and dont really know to much about them so Im here, any advice?
If it definitely smells like oil I'd look into why you are burning oil as well.
The smoke part is easily figured out by jacking up the car and looking for the exhaust leak.
Do you have any aftermarket piping?

I do have aftermarket piping im pretty sure and I also just put a cat converter on.it. smoke sometimes gets into the cabin from the passenger side right near my main exhaust line, im pretty sure its an exhaust leak
Smoke will come off the outside of new exhaust parts the first time you use them.
To check for leaks idle the engine and block the tailpipe with a rag. Pressure should build up quietly. If you hear a hissing sound under the car that is a small leak. If no pressure builds up at all there is a big leak.
