Default 01 civic LX won't start

This morning, as I left for work, I got in my car and turned the key once. The dash lights came on, headlights turned on, everything was fine. I turned my key again to crank it, and there was one *click* noise, then all power was cut. No locks, lights, anything. I've read around and saw that it could be either starter or bad battery connection.

This new problem comes only 6 hours after fixing the brake light switch, and only 12 after my CEL coming on because my thermostat apparently isnt opening, despite my car running just fine. If anyone could offer some options for me to work on when I get home from my job today, it would be much appreciated.

Check your battery and its connections first. Then the starter and its connections. How old is the battery? What was the code?

Don't remember the code, sorry. Battery isn't very old at all. Maybe a year or so.
