Default can i convert a manual vertial bandsaw to be semi auto?

hi guys,
i just got a new bandsaw, and i was wondering if i can convert it to semi auto, is there a company that makes kits? or maby somone know where can i buy a cheap bandsaw piston ?

Yes, just purchase a "hydraulic downfeed cylinder" from one of many souces on the Internet. Pneumatics tend to be a bit more "choppy" on the descent and the hydraulic ones are much smoother both up and down. You can also just get a double acting cylinder, tubing, and a needle valve and make your own. I am sure there are guides on this subject matter out there online, but fabrication will most likely be involved. It will go in the same spot your springs are now and work out nicely. Just be sure to measure before you purchase anything and try to get the biggest one you can (within reason). I hope this helps, good luck!
