Default Question about a B16A SiR2 swap...

I currently have a 96 Civic Coupe DX (stock).

I have decieded to finally do a b16a swap that I have been talking about for about 2 years now, but I have a few things that I am unsure of.

1. Is it neccasary to swap about BOTH axels?
2. Will I need to do anything to my suspension? I currently have Ground Controlss & Tokiko non adjustable struts.
3. I have two places to decied where to buy my engine. HMO or a place called http://www.streetdragz.com. They have nothing on they're site but are located in Colorado and offering a complete swap for $2000. (you can see the enigne on eBay)
3. The wiring harness. From what I hear/read, the wiring harness that the engine comes with will not work since it is a JDM engine. If this is true, where can I find a good priced harness online.
4. Is there any prepping to the engine that I should do BEFORE the swap? I already planning on running a draining all fluids from the drain at least once to look for leaks, but I am wondering if I should look for anything else.
5. And last, what else should I do and expect during the swap? (exp. radiator, fuel pump, etc, etc)What will I need to replace for this swap to be a complete swap and fully operational (hopefully)?

Sorry for the long post, but I'm in need of some answers before I go through with the swap.

Much respect for any answers that can be given.

whoa what a question. since i had a similar swap in my old coupe this is what i did.

1. yes, youre gonna need b-series axles, 94-00 integra, 94-97 del sol vtec, 99-00 si
2.your suspention should be okay you can still use them
3. not sure which one, heard of osaka motors?
4. you can use your stock harness and add the vtec wires. since your car is odbII your gonna need obdII-obdI harness, they cost around $150-200
5. sounds like you already know what to do.
6. stock dx radiator and fuel pump should be ok, you can upgrade later too. i've been running on stock radiator and fuel pump on my b16a for 8 months now so far no problems. always expect the unexpected, dont be surprise if a probelm pops up in the middle of your swap.

it looks like you did a lot of homework about this, i know i did before i got my swap and trust me its a good thing. good luck and peace. welcome my fellow b16a owner. underdogs gotta stick together

Is it me, or does every noob seem to think every jdm b16a equipped 92-95 civic is an SiR2...

92-95 have both SiR and SiRII, the differences not being mechanical but aesthetic, such as the bronze glazed glas standard on an SiR2, as well as the optional extras, such as TCS, ABS, SRS airbag etc.

Not every 92-95 jdm b16a is from an SiR2...
Sorry, just venting...

The main reason why I posted a "SiR2" engine is for the fact that almost all companies I have talked to about purchasing an engine refers to ALL92-95 JDM B16A's as SiR2 for the simple fact it is the second gen of the B16A.

So please don't vent when you don't know the reason for the way a word or phrase was meant.

Thanks.

If these so called japanese engine experts don't know enough to even advertise their product accurately, then you probably shouldnt buy your motor from them.

I'm venting because its incorrect, not because i think you are a dumbass or something weak like that... you have your reasons. i have mine. I'm attempting to eliminate some of the proliferantly incorrect information that circulates here on occassion.

If you're talking 2nd generation b16a, call it that. SiR2 is just plain wrong. Refer to 'header vs headers' debate.
lol

And put your little finger pulling emoticon away, or go back to clubsi.

Yes there is a lot of incorrect information floating about on H-T, but this wasn't a thread directed to that. This guy was looking for info which he recieved from zzzleeperCX , I see that you wish to help others with technicalities and thats cool, it would just be better taken on a thread directed toward that.

your gonna need to use 99-00 si rear tranny bracket also. tegra one is too long.

who cares if 92-95 had sir and sir2, and you said urself that it doesnt have to do with anything mechanical. the only time you should worry about sir sir2 is if you were actually going to buy the car and you wanted abs etc..so if the motor is still 170hp and came out of a 92-95 then sir2 sir doesnt matter. people know what someone is talking about when u say sir2. most people say sir2 because who wants to write out second generation b16 everytime?? its like writing out laugh out loud. so dang dood lay off on the jdm stuff. dood wants info on a swap not jdm termonology. jus my 0.2$

That is absoloutly correct.

I did not come here to be told what the diffrence is between SiR & SiR2. Like I stated before, I just used the term "SiR2" to help people know what engine I am talking about.

Thanks for all the people that ehlped out and didn't attemt flaming me for being a "n00b" as someone so quickly decided to.

I will be purchasing the engine in about 48 hours and hopefully will have it dropped in the car by this coming up weekend.

I will make sure to post up my progress.

Respect
