Honda Torneo Info
Hi all,
Year: 1997, Make: Honda, Model: Torneo SiR E-CF4, Chasis Number: CF4-1006405, Engine Number: F20B DOHC, Transmission: Manumatic
It was made in Japan. I am looking to find the VIN Number for it but have no luck. It is not located in the engine compartment
or on the windshield next to the driver side or on the door panel by the drivers side.
Do anyone know where the location of the VIN Number for this vehicle is?
Can anyone provide a link and transmission number or info that this vehicle carry as I need to replace the transmission?
Thanks in advance for all the responses.

Japanese cars do not have a VIN as North American cars have. JDM only cars do not have the common 'VIN' that outside markets will have. The CF4-1006405 is effectively the VIN number, it identifies what type of Honda it is, in your case a Torneo CF4. If you have insurance or registration, check those forms for any other government assigned number given to the car. CF4 is the chassis designation.
If you are trying to find parts for your CF4 and you are NOT in Japan, the JDM serial number will not be effective in locating parts.
I'm not really sure if there was any physical difference between the S-Matic manumatic transmission and the normal M6HA automatics found in 5th gen Preludes/6th gen Accords besides the TCU/PCM control and shifter. Preludes had the 'Tiptronic' which was a similar system, full automatic or manual gear selection.
Can you take pictures of the transmission and post them? There should be a bar code sticker on the top of the trans, look at the code on it, it will probably be MCJA and a bunch of numbers.
This is a M6HA transmission...

Hey Mad Mike,
Thanks for the reply. The transmission is still in the car so it will be difficult to get pictures.
My mechanic tell me that the transmission is an MCJA or MGPA. I am trying to find a transmission rebuild
kit but have no luck. Do you know where I can possible find a kit for it?
Thanks in advance.
