96 honda accord
Please , I need some help here. I have a 96 accord that will not go over 50 mph and is not switching gears. Rpm stays between 3/4. I have changed the speed sensor because that was the code at auto zone. An output sensor and it did nothing. Now they say it's my input sensor. But I read up on vss, and these symptoms don't match mine. Speedometer, odometer and cruise control are working fine. If the car has been sitting a while it runs like normal, as soon as it gets heated up it starts refusing to go into gear. Please does somebody know what I can do?
If it is an AT car, limp mode for the transmission is 2nd gear. 50MPH is possible, its not pretty but it is doable.
There are three output sensors on the AT trans. VSS. NM and NC sensors. VSS is used for speed and for down shifting, NM and NC are used for upshifting, if they are dirty the TCU ill not get a shaft speed reading and will not command an up-shift.
But until the actual code is posted we are in the land of hearsay and conjecture.
