O2 Sensor + EGR Sys monitors refuse to clear
Since the middle of January, I've been struggling to get these monitors to clear. Everything else is ready, and I've driven over a thousand miles and performed several drive cycles to try and get my car ready for inspection. I'm at my wit's end, and every mechanic I've asked just tells me to run a drive cycle. Every other monitor clears just fine, but these two just don't seem to change. No MIL, no indication that anything is wrong, car drives fine, these monitors just won't set.
I have an inkling of a theory - A few months ago, my throttle position sensor stopped responding in the middle of a drive - in order to get the car home, I slightly adjusted the actual position of the throttle to get the voltage to read high enough to be able to change gears - after I got it home, I replaced the sensor and adjusted the throttle back. If I didn't quite adjust it correctly, could this cause the monitors to not clear? Again, there are no codes being thrown or anything of the sort.
If that wouldn't have anything to do with it, has anyone else experienced a problem similar to this or have any advice for figuring this out? I'm pulling my hair out at this point, I just want to get my inspection done.
Vehicle is a 2005 Honda Civic EX.
Work that's been done in the past couple months:
- replaced throttle position sensor (done myself)
- replaced catalytic converter - cat monitor has since cleared just fine (mechanic)
- replaced air/fuel ratio sensor (mechanic)
If I'm not sharing enough information, please let me know and I'll do my best to provide it.
Have a good one,
kob
