Default locating the green-red wire that connects to the ceiling lamp (1995 Canada Civic)

I have a 1995 Canadian Civic LX.

I'm trying to locate the "Grn/Red" wire that connects the front-door-passeger switch to the battery. (See page 23-160 in the service manual (https://1drv.ms/f/s!ArG9W3G7SiGNbd3hqs-rk7noqSg).

I've searched for a green-red wire in my car and found this: Did I find the green-red wire that senses when the front-passenger door is open? - Album on Imgur. These are pics on the driver's side, under the steering wheel.

Later, I control-F-searched through the service manual and learned that there are more than one green-red wires in the car.

If you have a similar car, can you take a pic of your green-red wire that connects to the ceiling lamp?

All of your diagrams say US model. This is one of the areas where the Canadian market version is likely to be significantly different since the seat belt reminder alarm is legally required to operate a certain way.

The diagrams show no connection from the battery to the door switches. The battery feeds the ceiling light, and the door switches control the grounded side of the circuit.

Please note, I believe the factory service manual that is typically found downloadable online is the 1992 manual. There were some changes from '93 on up. '92 was the only year the vtec wiring is present on the shock tower regardless of trim. There may be other significant changes.

Below is the electrical troubleshooting manual for the 1993 civic. Please note the wire(s) you are referencing are actually Light Green w/ Red stripe (LT GRN/RED).

I hope the following photo's are helpful to you.

Your requested wiring diagrams are in my post above.

I optimized the photo's and added the missing photo.

If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to ask.

TomKat, oh thank you. I neglected to reply to you. Thank you for taking the time to take pics and upload them.

Just checking: Aren't there relevant differences between US and Canadian? That's what the the 2-page PDF I've uploaded suggests. UPDATE: In the 2page PDF, I compared the relevant section (the section concerning the door switches & celiing light) and it appears there's no material difference b/w US and Canada.

UPDATE 2: I compared my 2page PDF with your clear and helpful pics/scans. It appears both yours and mine say Green/Red (yours adds the word "light" in "light green")

I removed the plastic stuff under my steering wheel and took some pics. Do you see the right green-red wire in these 2 albums?

In this smaller album, Did I find the green-red wire that senses when the front-passenger door is open? - Album on Imgur, I see a green wire with a red stripe. But is it the green/red wire we're looking for? My service manual (and maybe TomKat's manual) indicates there's more than one green/red wire.

In this bigger album, I removed the three screws - Album on Imgur, I just went trigger-happy and snapped 18 images. Is it there?

Should I look on the front-passenger side for the wire?

Thank you, all.

TomCat,
I'm looking at the the pics in your uploads (photos 53 & 54 "Left KicK Panel"; Photo 64 "Rear of underdash fuse/relay box") and i'm trying to figure out whether I've photographed a left kick panel or the underdash fuse/relay box in my pics.

#64 is on the back side of the under dash fuse box. Your pictures are the front side.

The left kick panel connector of #54 is up high on the left kick panel. I think I saw the bracket the cruise control unit would be bolted to in some of your pictures.

#53 for Connector 415 is a little lower. I cannot tell in your pictures if it is the 14 pin grey plug labeled C415.

I did not see other green/red designations when quickly flipping through the etm. Emphasis on "quickly".

You're looking for the Integrated Control Unit, the part that beeps at you when the seat belt is not fastened. I think it is on the back side of the underdash fuse box.

Once you locate a green-red wire you can probe it to see if it is the right one. Should be battery voltage with the door closed (both driver and passenger, so the light is out) and near zero with it open.

Well if it beeps under the dash for any reason (key left in, lights left on, etc) it all comes from the same place, the ICU. And the wire you are looking for also leads there.

Ah, yes, mk3798. It does beep for me when the key is left in. Thank you. I'll intentionally make it beep to easily locate the ICU. This is a very good idea.

Default Searched for beeping ICU but couldn't locate it

mk,
I removed the under-dash gray plasic cover, put the key into the ignition and turned it to the first dial. With the door ajar, there was a beeping sound. I thought it would be therefore easy to pinpoint the ICU. But, perhaps because it was too loud, I had a hard time determining where exactly the sound was coming from.

"I had one job".... Lol.

Please look at the picture labelled #64. It shows the back side of the under dash fuse box and it also shows the ICU (big white square box) plugged into the back side of the fuse box with the label Integrated Control Unit (ICU).

You have to unbolt the fuse box to be able to see on the back side. And it usually means disconnecting a fair amount of plugs from the front side.

All of this should be done with the battery disconnected.

I have a multimeter but don't really know how to use it. Which setting on the dial do I select? Where does the black tip go and where does the red tip go?

My MM looks like this:

Use the DCV (D.C. Volts) 20 setting. 20 is the maximum voltage you can read on that setting, which is good for a 12 volt system.

Hold the black probe on a good ground. When inside the car I use either the shell of the lighter plug or the key cylinder.

Put the red probe on the terminal you are trying to test. If you want to test a wire directly instead of where it ends, you have to push the point of the probe through the insulation on the side of the wire to touch the copper inside. Do not do this on wires under the hood because water will get into the hole and cause corrosion.

Default I think I found the integrated control unit

I think I found the integrated control unit. I took the picture without removing the fuse box. I stuck my camera behind it (while I was upside down) and, with selfie mode on, snapped some pics.

Thanks for confirming, TomCat.

----

Would anyone know where _exactly_ the wire (Light Green with Red Stripe) connects to? There are so many wires at the ICU area.

Here are some more pics.

Pin 8 of C438, which plugs directly into the end of the ICU. This information was all there in the service manual diagrams and photos already posted.

I suggest unbolting the fuse box / ICU assembly and folding it down for better access to the back side.

What are you trying to do or troubleshoot?? The ceiling light LTGRN/RED wire also goes to the passenger door so it can be found in the bundle of wire alongside under the driver's door sill. Stop breaking your neck trying to get at the ICU.

Also, to correct some misinformation in this thread, CDM and USDM seat belt reminder operation is identical for this gen Civic.
