Default D16y7 Decent Exhaust?

Looking for a decent exhaust for my Civic, don't want brands sold on ebay like Spec D, although I do like the deeper sound of a srs catback. Want to atleast get headers and a cat-back. Want to try to keep one catlytic converter.

Are you getting it for sounds? Money best spend fixing up your motor then on exhaust system at this point. Our 4 cyl have 1 header. Not multiple header's. Unless you go force induction, I see no benefit of header, exhaust. No gain in HP, just lots of noise.. It will sound like a bumble bee going down the road.

If you still have the LX style manifold / converter unit, and it is not cracked, and you're only interested in sound, you can keep using it. Otherwise convert to an EX style system with the converter under the car just behind the engine. There is only one converter in either case, either part of the manifold, or under the car, but not both.

Mine has two cats though? I have one on the manifold and towards the end. Im swapping to a d16y8 during the summer hopefully either way. I might just put it off and leave it the way it is until the y8 swap.

The bulge in the center pipe approximately under the back seat is not a cat, it is a resonator. It's just a hollow space. Honda seems to think it is important, but many aftermarket pipes just leave it out.

My 95 Del Sol S exhaust was on borrowed time. The stainless catback I order on eBay was great, and delivered for less than $120. Unfortunately, my cat convertor was welded to the pipe and I'm not good enough at welding, So I took a chance on an eBay new one for about the same. So $240 into it, I love the sound, and did a heat test on the new cat, working perfectly. Best, I just had to apply a little copper sealant and tighten everything up. Better than new

Lol....SRS is a knockoff that's sold on eBay. Its not inherantly any better or worse than Spec D or GodSnow or any of the other brands that you see on eBay.

Any straight thru exhaust will sound like a wet fart on a D/B series that's street driven.

None are going to sound "deep".

A modded OEM ITR exhaust or Apex'i world sport paired up with a header and stock CAT meant for a D16Y8 car (civic EX) would be good choices. But neither is loud and neither is ultra cheap.

After owning a Y7 coupe for 5 years now I would comfortably say that your best bet is to buy a magnaflow catback and leave everything else stock. The cat is built into the header on the Y7 and removing it is only going to make it sound worse. There is such a minimal performance gain to be had by installing an aftermarket header on a Y7. All it will be is a headache. I like the way my car sounds with the magnaflow (came on it) and other people have commented that it sounds unusually good for a D series motor. Good sound but not too loud, and good build quality. Doesn't sound shitty and tinny like D series always do.

I see, thanks for the info guys, once I swap to the Y8 I can reinstall the Magnaflow right? Or is it welded on?

Find junkyard EX
Pull or have it pulled: entire exhaust system including manifold
Remove current exhaust sytem
Directly bolt on EX exhaust system.

At least once you have an EX style system from the engine through the converter, you have more aftermarket cat-back choices.

You will need extension wires for the O2 sensor after the converter, since it will then be under the car rather than up front. That can be bought pre-made.
