Default Any 2nd Gen Integras with motor swaps in here?

I've been so tempted with Osaka's prices that I'm seriously considering a swap. I was looking at the GSR for $2700 or maybe the b16a for $1050 (el cheapo swap). They said that the shift linkage isn't icluded. Can I use mine? Also, is the loss of torque of going from an LS to a b16a that significant as far as the butt dyno?

why lose the torque? why don't ya just buy only a b16a head and slap that on the ls block and with the extra money you saved, rebuild the block.

I just built a B18C1 and dropped it into my '93. If you go with a VTEC swap look for a 92-93 GSR trans. or any cable VTEC trans. would be perfect.

Thanks guys for the advice. I just drove my brother's '90 Prelude Si (2.1 liter motor for that year) this weekend. I haven't driven it since we slapped on the i/h/e/catalytic conv. Man, the torque is pretty sweet. And the tight gearing is much better than my LS tranny. After riding it, the torque factor did make me think twice about downgrading. I would definitely miss it. I also realized that his car would spank mine (off the n20 of course ).

I agree, get a b16 head and slap it on the ls block...rebuild the block w. stronger internals , get it honed out or something...can go with bigger pistons n shyt like that..thats what im doing with my 91 ls...got a ported jdm b16a2 head...just waiting on my ecu and the block rebuild was done 3 days ago...so as soon as the ecu comes in which should be this week i'll let you know how it all works out !! block rebuild ... all new bearings = 250 from acura....pain in the *** for the green main bearings though...back order for 3 weeks...so just be prepared for a wait...my mechanic called all the acura dealerships in the u.s east , west , mid west....noone had them...

integs, regardless of year arent really know for their troque numbers. y not go with a higher displacement motor, honda crv for example b20z (i think, but i may be wrong with the motor code) and slap on a vtec head, b18c b16a whatever.

also, take a look at member "dplatt" he has the best g2 i have ever seen (imho) inside and out! close to 200 whp na

Why all the VTEC hype? That's all it really is. Dan has a cool second gen but so does Slowerthanu.

EDIT: A 3rd Gen LS with 174whp ran consistant 13.4's on Drag Radials.

(Had I/H/E, cams, testpipe, chipped ECU, and a minor P&P)

must have had more to make 174whp,
stock Ls make between 110-115 whp,
dplatt has a sweet one same model as mine, GS

to make that kind of power also those cams would have had to be crazy , bad idle problems bad gas mileage. my car idles fine and i get 450-500 km per tank

why go b20? just bore out the ls n slap on the vtec head. 174whp for an ls would be hella tuning and mods. i'd go b18c1 or b18c/b18c5, b16's sux.

Why downgrgade to a b16? I swapped a b18b into my teg, only because i got it cheap and my b18a was getting old. Your shift linkage will work. But your clutch will be the problem. The gsr's tranny is hydro, ,and yours is cable. If you really want the gsr tranny, rip apart both tranny's and swap the internals.

Why do you say that about the B16. I went with the B16 b/c it was cheap (relatively speaking). I was able to squeeze 201whp from my JunIII setup. If you go with the B16 or even the B18C I would get a B16 cable tranny or a GSR cable tranny.

and how much torque do you have? it can't compare to gsr or type R. but if you have it whatever floats your boat.

what i meant by rebuild your block is have it resleeved, put new pistons, rods, bearing, etc.

Wait wait wait, you're claiming 138 ft/lbs from your n/a b16?

The LS/vtec setup would be nice, but I don't have the know-how to put something like that together. I've been doing some research trying to find some shops in the vicinity of Jersey that specialize in Honda performance. So far, I haven't found much except for RPM in NYC (and their prices are steep). There are a couple of other small shops in Jersey, but I just don't trust them. I'm also trying to meet as many weekend mechanics as I possibly can. In the mean time I'll just keep researching.

Side note: It would be cool if we could have a network of H-T members in the NJ/NY area where we could all just help each other out with any car issues.

If you have a 90-91 teg, a b16 is definetaly worth it. The 90-91 B18A only has 130Hp, and 121 ft/lbs of torque. By adding a b16, I added 30 HP, and only sacrificed a few foot pounds of torque. Well worth it in my opinion especially since you can get a 1st gen b16 for so cheap. ~$1000. 2nd gen tegs
