Motor mount confusion
Hello all! I have searched and searched and cannot seem to find a satisfactory answer to my question about the rear motor mount in my 93 Accord. So just to give a little information, I just bought this car 3 days ago and it needs rear motor mounts badly. Its has had a rather stoutly built closed deck H22A swapped into it. From what i can tell it is using the factory accord mounts which i can see from my research should work. Anyway, the accord was originally automatic but the H swap is manual. When i look at the rear mount although it is hard to see, it appears that it is using the automatic trans mount with a solinoid on it. It bolts up to it fine but ive seen people saying that that isnt possible? That you must get a whole new bracket if you swap a 5 speed in? About to replace the mount and vwry confused as to what i need to do. Thanks!
*UPDATE* it appears that it has an innovative mounts Automatic to manual conversion side mount on the transmission side. How would this influence my rear mount needs? I had contacted the company about this mount 3 days ago not knowing the car had it installed and recieved no reply.
Normally when using factory parts for an AT to MT conversion the only thing that needs to be really done is the new hole on the frame bracket for the transmission mount has to be drilled to accept the MT mount. AT mount is at a different elevation.
If the Innovative mount keeps everything aligned but just uses the AT through bolt hole, there should be no issues with other mount alignment.
For the rear mount the two main differences are the AT mount is a hydro mount to allow the engine to 'float' when it is idling in gear. This reduces the vibrations to the cab, an MT car does not need this function. The other is that the MT uses 4bolts and the AT uses 3bolts on the rear beam to mount, but IIRC this was due to the vacuum diapragm being in the way of the 4th bolt. Pretty sure the rear beam has provisions for both mounts.
As for the engine bracket, I don't know if there really is a difference. Thought it was the same piece,it bolts on from the engine side and uses a single bolt that only clamps the engine bell housing flange(handy for when needing to drop the trans.

Thank you! I believe that clears it up. There are lots of conflicting statements out there so I appreciate the help. I have another auto rear mount laying around so I suppose ill use that for the time being!
One thing with mounts is, not only is it different between auto/manual, there are actually different part numbers for the mounts between the EX (F22B1 equipped cars), and the DX/LX (F22B2 cars).
Example:
LX 5-speed rear mount which is a 3-bolt

EX 5-speed, 4-bolt

Best way to be certain what your car has is to go to a parts site like I posted above, and put in the original trim and configuration your car is. Will tell you exactly what you have and need as a replacement.
As far as Innovative, you're better off calling them. They suck at replying to emails sometimes. I'd grab the other 2 mounts of their kit just so you can have their full kit to match your transmission mount already.
