Timing Belt Inspection
I need some help on what you guys think of this timing belt. I bought this 1991 Accord Wagon from an impound lot so I have no history of the maintenance. Everything seems fine, I went in to replace my cam seal, valve cover seals and inspect the timing belt. I WANT to change the timing belt. I just wanted your guys opinion on how long do I have, the belt was definitely tight in there. Also the bolt for the cam pulley was new. Do I need to change this belt tomorrow or is it something I can get to in a few months. I know it is difficult to tell, I just have to reference no go by. It has 146,000 miles. I appreciate the help! Also on the side of my valve cover it said MN159. Does anybody have an idea what that means?

Is the belt labeled "Honda" or some aftermarket name? you'll need to pull it all the way through to check. If the latter, you'd know it has been changed at some point... If there's nothing on there, then change it. My son's 94 LX with 128K had the original and the Honda writing was still very legible.
From the pics, it doesn't look bad, but it's really hard to predict the life of a belt from pictures.
If you're changing the cam seals anyway, you're almost there. Just go ahead get it all done (incl. waterpump). You'll feel better driving.
No idea what the mark means.

Thanks for the reply! I know it's tough to judge. I didn't see any Honda writing on it anywhere. I'll pull the cover again to take another look. The next belt
interval is 180K. I would like to think the original wouldn't last this long but I'm sure that's not even true.
Has as anyone had an original belt last longer than 145K? The kit is super cheap, I'll just change it in the next few weeks.
belts can last that long.
heard a lady on cartalk with 90k mile honda never changed oil, ran fine.
must have been topped off at least.
someone here ran an engine with oil completely drained with no issues
for a bit at least. none of these are good ideas of course
but proof of durability. i'm about to hit 350k! woot!
