Default 2007 Civic EX Sedan Questions

Hey folks, I happened upon a 2007 EX with 87K miles. Unfortunately it has a cracked block. It is out of warranty as of September last year. Dammit. If the price is right I'll buy it and probably use Fiberlock as a temp solution so i can get the car to a shop. I remember seeing something where people put engines from slightly newer Civics in and they don't crack. What year engines would I ask for if I have the shop swap the engine? I'm also going to have a shop see if I can weld the cracks instead. Might be cheaper. might not be. Any suggestions or input Also aside from bad engines, what are your thoughts on this gen Civic? I'm going from a DA9 to this.

Get a 2010+ engine. These civics are pretty solid. The only things that bothered me about them are, really small engine bay and harsh suspension.

2010+ engine. Thanks And since everything is more or less the same, the ECU shouldn't need to be swapped as well? Huh harsh suspension? As in it isn't very forgiving for a compact sedan?

I think the blocks are the same all the way through 2015.. Not sure about the sensors though. Best bet is to get a 2010-2011 motor, everything should be the same. Suspension is fine nothing crazy harsh but comparable to earlier generations civic (92-2000) you can tell the difference. I think it mostly has to do with the lower profile of the wall of the tires.
