Steering wheel interchange
Anybody know if the steering wheel from a 1997 Accord will fit a 1995? There was a design change in '96. They look alike but I thought I'd see if anybody has ever swapped them. A previous owner pulled the stock steering wheel for an aftermarket and I want to get the SRS light out as well as restore the factory safety system.
The splines should be the same. I believe it was the airbag plugs and wiring that was different between the OBD1 and OBD2 cars.
A lot of us swap over either S2000 steering wheels, or EK9 Civic Type R wheels, since they actually use the same spline. In some cases the airbag plugs are the exact same too.

I'm trying to keep my investment as low as possible since I'm fixing a bunch of things previous owners did half way. The brakes alone look like they will run me a good $350 or more. If it wasn't a 2 door, I probably would just part it out. I still need to fix a major fuel leak, replace the exhaust and clean the wiring up some. I'm not really into Honda's as I barely fit in them. Now I have two coupes sitting here at the house.
I believe 94 - 97 is all the same. I have a leather wrapped wheel off a 97 I am intending to use on my 94 wagon, but I will be reusing my airbag. Most of the changes other than OBD1 and OBD2 were cosmetic such as the hood.and front grill.
I don't have anything to go by as an aftermarket wheel is in the car now. Not even a nice one, or tight. Back around 1974 or so I was hammering down a back stretch coming up on a curve and the steering wheel came off in my hand. The crew forgot to push the lock button on it. I had to use a crow bar for a week to go to the bathroom. There's a '97 in the bone yard with the same color interior. About $35 with the air bag. If the bag doesn't work, I'll find a 9 volt battery and have some fun.
I want to make this car as turn key as I can. It doesn't even have much rust. Some, but not much.
