THREE of my wheel studs just broke on my driver side front wheel. I just took out the caliper and that one braket.. now I need to take out the brake disc. How do you remove those screws without stripping them?? Also, do I need to remove the spindle nut (hub nut?) to take out the disc (i hope not )? thanks

when I was replacing my Brake rotors I also used an Impact screwdriver to take them out... its a screwdriver where you hit the end of the screwdriver w/ a hammer (impact) and that turns the tip about 20 degree's...

 

oh! i thought it was an air device.. im gonna run to autozone and get one real quick and i'll let you guys know what happens thanks!

 

While we're on the subject...how much does one of these impact screwdrivers cost? I need to do my brakes soon...

 

its not an air tool... its just a screwdriver thats driven by force/impact... when you hit the end.. it turns the screwdriver tip about 20 degrees

they cost about $20.. I've seen them at both Sears and home depot.. not sure if they have them at Autozone or Kragen.. then again I don't really look there to buy tools...

I got mine for less that ten at harbor freight, worked great.

 

yeah I saw it in the HF catalog for like $7.99 after I paid like $20 for mine at Sears... but after snapping over a dozen of HF impact sockets.. I don't really trust their tools anymore..
