Hello folks. I just bought a few days ago a 93 civic hatch with a d15b7 engine. I have a problem with getting the car out of park so i stick the key in the key hole to be able to move it. I was doin a little work on the car and notice it has a 92 prelude si h23 manual ecu. Can someone tell me what is the stock ecu for my car? Many thanks.
The ,92-95 Civic platform uses a cable control for shift selection... there is little input from the ECU. What you need is a 37820-P06-A5X... X = 0, 1, 2 or 3. There is shift interlock communication inside this ECU that likely will cure your ability to shift from park normally instead of having to use the key manually in the over-ride slot in the console.
I cannot even imagine WHY there would be a 2.3L Prelude ECU in your car in the first place... that is the kind of thing that someone does just to get the car moved from a dangerous place to the safety of your own garage, not run it indefinitely.
The first 3 gears of the OBD1 automatics are mechanically controlled by the transmission itself. The ECU controls engagement of 4th (overdrive) gear and the torque converter lock.
Yes I would also expect that to run like crap due to the different cc size of the engine.
