1998 CRV shuts off driving to work and didn't turn back on. before the engine completely died, I step on the gas pedal RPM didn't shoot up. I tried turn back on nothing happened, engine didn't try fire up BUT I did feel it turn over.. it felt like I ran out of gas but I didn't.. I'm thinking it could be either fuel injectors or fuel pump.. I haven't pop the hood yet and try troubleshoot..

Pull the distributor cap off and see if the rotor turns as you turn the engine over.

 

found the problem it was the ignition coil went out so I replace hole thing... $260.00 repair

 

OOOh. That hurts. I had the same thing a while back but may have got off a little cheaper including the tow home.

 

Out of curiosity , can we just replace the ignition coil by itself ? If so, what is best one out there beside OEM one ?

 

It has been a while and I do not remember exactly what I did.

CRV stopped running, would not start.

No Fire.

Troubleshooting and I replaced the ICM in the distributor.
Lost ability to TS I guess as that did not work and replaced coil also.

CRV runs fine.

All parts were Oreilly specials as CRV is stock.

 

Glad it was just the ignition coil.

The cap and rotor on my older CRV had to change the whole cap and rotor and ignition coil.
