Default Hood alignment

I bought a different hood for me 93 civic and after putting it on, it sits maybe a 1/4 or more below the fenders, is there a way to adjust this out or anything or could I have bought another bum hood?

there are (or should be) rubber stoppers on either side of the core support. they can be unscrewed a bit to help.

+1 on the car, at the front corners of the hood, should be two rubber bumpers. Adjust those to push the hood up.

Just a word to the wise. Those rubber stoppers can only compensate for so much.

I have the same issue with my wifes 93 hatchback. She didn't want the black rattle canned hood so I took it and so far every red hatchback hood I've put on her car has your same issue.

The stoppers are out as much as possible but I still have about 4-5mm drop from the fenders.

This is something I would like to figure out too. So far only minimal of luck with it.

Let me know if the threaded rubber stoppers fixes yours.

Right, I tried the stoppers and just raised the front a little, it's all the way down the sides not just front, did they put spacers under the hinges like they use to in the older cars?

I'm not sure if or how the hinge end is adjusted, but if nothing else you could stack some washers between the hinges and the hood to raise it. Longer bolts may also be needed.

The hinges allow for a little front to back adjustment. Nothing for the up/down horizontal height adjustment. Washers and quite likely a little longer bolts.

The hood release has a little up down adjustment on one side if I recall correctly.

I'm wondering if there is any other adjustment or spacers on the base of the hinges? I don't recall actually seeing where on the body the hinges are attached or if it's even accessible. But it did occur to me if Honda used a space plate there, the hinges would be a fair amount lower etc....

there is no plate, where the hinges attach has globs of seam sealer all over. when you break them free, there is nothing but a threaded hole underneath. assuming the body panels are factory Honda, any fitment issue is likely related to a past collision.

I was sort of afraid of that.

I really have not found evidence of a collision other than the curve of the hood versus both fenders is different by a touch but that isn't saying much.

After comparing hinges from my parts car to my other car, it appears from the factory they bent the hinges to fit as needed, I can take pics of them tomorrow, completely forgot today, but even both on either car where slightly different, one has a slight curve in it and the other is perfectly straight, just a theory right now, I'll have to check into it a little more

much more likely that they were bent by a body shop. wayyyyy too many cars produced to sit there and modify hinges to fit per car.

Couldn't the front end height of the hood be adjusted using the latch mechanism? There is some vertical adjustment in that... and setting it higher would in theory raise the hood, correct? And then adjust the rubber bumpers afterward?
