Default Suggestions Wanted: B16 Head/GS-R Block or Complete GS-R?

I wasnt sure where to put this thread since it isnt model specific or tech related more of a discussion. Anywerds

Stuck on what to build. I have a b16 head, a gsr head and a gsr block. I read a regular gsr will put down slight more power than a poor man type R also what kind of pistons should i run? Aftermarket gsr pistons or type R pistons? Would like others opinions on what to do. I also have a ls crank/ rods and block. Could put ls internals in the gsr block and have a stroked poor man type R? Or build a lsv with a b16 head. Decisions decisions. I jumped into this project without a plan in mind but i do know i want to finish a gsr engine. This discussion is just to get some ideas bouncing around. Let me know what you all think!

real answer - ls crank in gsr block with some type r pistons with gsr head because slightly higher compression

GDD answer - hondas are for poors

Really I think this depends on what your trying to do with the setup. For the most Power out of the parts you have, I would get the GSR block honed to 81.5mm, use some 81.5mm PCT (CTR) pistons, use the 89mm LS crank for a little added stroke, and the GSR head casting for a little added compression. Put that together with OEM bearings, OEM gaskets and some half decent cams (CTR or better) and you will have a solid 200+ HP engine that will scream on track. If your just looking for a fun but simple daily driver, use the LS block/rods/Pistons/crank, get an LSVtec kit, use the GSR head, again for a little extra compression, and have a fun 180-185 HP setup for your street car. "Poor mans" type R is over rated. We get these Type R piston GSR blocks with a stock 87mm crank and B16 head combos all the time and the owners all think it's going to be an insanely powerful race engine (because Type R Pistons, duh) but in the end they spend twice as much money to make the same Power a well built OEM part LSV would make.

If you use that LS block you will have to run a catch can as you would have no PCV system with an LS block / VTEC head. And an oil line kit.

This. But you may need to modify the crank to clear the squirters. That setup would make the most power.

Frankly if I had a complete GSR I would just go with that. Why not just put the GSR together and slap the B16 head on the LS block? Wouldn't that make sense? 2 engines right there.

It's skip the squirters completely if going with an LS crank, and not modify the crank itself. "moving" the squirters is hit/miss, so I'd get a Golden Eagle oil squirter block kit and go from there.

Lol ok. SLEEVED makes better sense. B20 block IMO is a better option if cost is a concern.
