94 accord ex fuel pump question?
I'm getting ready to drop the tank and replace the fuel pump in my 94 accord ex. With future plans of putting more money under the hood, as like most others on here this is my project car, I was going to go with a high pressure pump. Possibly the walbro 255LPH. That being said, can I put said pump in without having to make other mods right away? If In fact I don't have to mod anything, will I have problems sooner than later?
Why
This is a loaded question if you are not giving us all of the details of the "final result" of your plans.
Last, don't put all of us into this " as like most others on here this is my project car". All of my Honda's are stock and I keep and want them that way....sorry if I want to have fun I get the old chevy V8 out.
In ANY build, you have to start with the end in mind....if not you are just wasting time and money.
How about you make sure the car is solid - brakes, suspension, ect before replacing a fuel pump.
Sorry, just my opinion.

Well let start with your condescending comment. I said "most" people, not all. You said "all of us". I read many post on here about project cars. Just like 99% of the threads on here it was a question lookin for an answer or a little help. I'll start from the bottom, yea the brakes are good, yea the suspension and everything else is good. The car runs and drives. The reason for changing the pump is, well same reason you change a light bulb, it's going out. That being said, I don't want to put a pump in now only to replace it with a larger one down the road. The end result doesn't matter for this question but since you're asking, I eventually would like to reach a manageable HP with a reasonable budget and still be reliable. So again, if I change it now will it run correctly with stock components
If it's all stock, lines and all. I would not bother. At best the fuel pump, attempting to pump more than needed(~65GPH vs 45GPH), will heat up the fuel which can lead to vaporizing the fuel, excessive misting and overpressurizing the tank. This will cause a downward spiral of overheating the fuel more and more which will cause the car to run like it is running out of fuel. Also a higher load on the pump, from restricted fuel lines, will cause a higher current draw on the wiring which may overheat and fail itself, including other components such as the Main Relay. Fuel pressure is not monitored and is mechanically controlled via vacuum controls(FPR), since the system is engineered as a system upping the overall pressure/volume would most likely cause a constant rich condition that you may not be able to properly fix(including with an adjustable FPR.
Mike I appreciate it. I was hoping to get someone like you or ghostaccord to a reply from. That pretty much answers the question. I was wondering if anyone was getting where I was coming from as far as having to replace it now only to replace it again with a larger one down the road after any engine mods. But again, I appreciate the feed back
