Default Driverside High Beam Not Working

1998 Civic EX Coupe (stock), A/T. 170k miles

Driver side high beam not working. Blue high beam dash light intermittent. Low beams working fine. All fuses intact and checked fuse holder with volt meter..readings are normal.
Replaced high beem bulb..no change. Haven't traced for possible wire(s) short yet.

Is the socket at the headlight okay? I know on the previous generation civics, the sockets would get really hot and the plastic would get really brittle allowing the female spades to loosen to cause poor contact.

Until I swapped the sockets, I would have to hop out periodically and wiggle the socket on the bulb to get them working again. Also crimped the females a bit etc.

You might want to check the sockets to see if they are having issues making contact.

I cleaned out as much of the old dialectric grease as possible and the used a pick to clean the socket contacts off and sprayed the socket with Radio Shack electronic cleaner/lube but, no change.

Unfortunately, I don't have the ETM for the 6th gen civic so I can't help you with wire colors and connectors.

Good luck finding you problem spot.

I believe it suppose to send voltage to the high beam, if its not than you may have a bad wire. Might want to check the connector by the shock tower.

Both high and low beams have separate circuits left and right high beam and left and right low beam and fuses for all 4 of them.I would confirm power at the left high beam fuse, [both test tips], if you have power at bot test tips on the left high beam fuse the problem must be between the fuse and the bulb socket so test at the socket, and because the high beam indicator is also a problem I would suspect the lug on the fuse box that has the head light wiring, and indicator lead in it to be the problem or the fuse box itself, you will need to test for power starting at the fuse box to see where to open circuit is. 94

The driver's side low beam is not working now as well. Someone from another Honda site (20 year Honda dealer mechanic) said to twist the wires near to and the interior fuse panel itself to possibly locate a short. That suggestion correlates with your's: "I would suspect the lug on the fuse box that has the head light wiring, and indicator lead in it to be the problem or the fuse box itself"
