Okay so I recently tried installing an aftermarket radio and it installed worked great while everything was still out for the first test and when I started putting everything in it's place some exposed wires touched something and sparked now the radio won't turn on anymore I checked every fuse manually pulled each one out and replaced it cause I just gave up on everything else so I replaced every single fuse under the steering. And also the ones in the engine so I know there's no way it's a blown fuse. Anyways the radio still won't turn on I pulled it out and connected it to a external battery and it worked and came on but when I attach it to the cars wiring it won't turn on at all I noticed the ciggarette lighter worked so i spliced into those red yellow and black wires to see if it'll give power to the radio and it doesn't still I honestly don't know what's wrong with it now I ran out of options to try so before having to restore to go to a mechanic and having him replace the whole wiring in the car I wanna see if there's any other things I can try from this forum.

 

why were there exposed wires in the first place? are any burnt? exactly how did you connect to the lighter?

 

Your radio should have it own fuse. Either inline or directly above or below the main wiring harness.
you should never work on electrical stuff again until you have done thorough research and know how to follow instructions.. You may start a fire unknowingly.

 

If you've cut the car wires to install the radio you've got quite a mess on your hands. Never do that. Always use a harness adapter, it's literally plug and play, one of the best $10.00 you'll ever spend.

I agree with 402, professional intervention may be necessary at this point.

 

Radio isn't blown, if you took it out and tested it on an external power source and it works then the fault is in the vehicle. I'm going to assume if you are having an issue with power in the car then the interior lighting fuse was not the correct amperage rating. Therefore your wiring becomes a fuse able link and burns out then pops the fuse ( if it even did). You need to run new power, ignition and ground wire for the radio to be 100℅ sure. It doesn't matter if you want to cut and splice wires, just when you attempt this you have to pay more attention to what your doing because everything is exposed.
