Hey guys I have few question and hope someone can help.
As the title says I have a built b18c1 with the following done to the short block.
Darton Sleeves 81.5mm, je pistons 9.5:1 and Eagle rods, act 6 pick clutch and flywheel, ARP head studs, oem Head gasket and other arp hardware

b18c1 head oem rebuilt with stock cams and valvetrian.

I'm only looking to make 500whp on e85., Here's my question will the stock valvetrian be able to handle it ?? Or not? I know for a fact the the block can handle it I'm just not sure about the head.

 

Technically yes, but due to the increased cylinder temperatures that the engine will exhibit with turbocharging, it is not wise to do so. If you keep the rev limit at stock levels (8100rpms) and the valves have been inspected and in good condition, you'll less likely have a problem.

But I recommend using better valve springs and retainers at minimum. Best course is to change the valves when possible if the engine was high mileage.
