so I picked up a 97 civic coupe ex for a day to day beater car, the car was already lowered when I received it. It is lowered in shocks/springs unsure of the brand because I just picked up the car. From the looks of it the tires are way to big for this ride height 195/70/14. The tire barley rubs the outer fender/lip and splash guard, my problem is the rim/wheel rubs the inner wheel well frame wall and I can hear metal on metal when I try to make a turn.




This is my main concern. I'm basically wondering if I need to get a different wheels, 15s with a more positive offset or do I need a different suspension set up. I love ride height and how it drives but not when it scratches everything when its not even that slammed. Thanks in advance!

 

195 is definitely a higher sidewall than the recommended 185 (65x14). Also inspect the outer tie rods to see if they were installed correctly (may be reversed?)... if, you hear a metal knocking sound at either full lock turn then that could be the issue. Someone probably threw 195's on to cushion the ride after lowering or to lower the profile but, it just makes it harder to stop and bouncy.

 

185/55 would fit good
