Just for background the car is a 2000 Acura 1.6 EL and has power side mirrors.

So I pulled off the side view mirror glass in order to replace it as the heating element appears to have stopped working. However, I cant for the life of me figure out how to get it back on. It looks like its held with two little white tabs and a centre connecting joint. The white tabs are for the motor assembly and without it can't be controlled by the switch. I tried following this youtube video:


but unfortunately the white tabs DO NOT come out of the motor assembly on my vehicle (I tried pulling them out with pliers). So now its just being held by the centre joint and the power adjustments are useless.

What am I missing?

 

just a quick update incase anyone else has this problem in the future.

I'm assuming the mirrors are different on a 2000 than the one in that video. The little white tabs don't appear to come out of the motor housing. I was able to get them back in by heating up the tabs and the back of the mirror. Then slowly but firmly pushed them back in. All fixed now!

 

Yes very different mirrors on the 99-00 EL vs. US and Canadian 96-00 Civics. Yours are more like Accord or Prelude ones.
