Default Honda Fit 2007 Safe to Bypass Heater Core?

Hey guys,
I have a heater core in a 2007 Honda Fit with the L15a engine that appears to be leaking. Am I safe to bypass it by looping the heater hoses together on this particular car without any risk of overheating due to loss of cooling coming from the core? Would really appreciate if anyone has any thoughts on this one as replacing it is a huge job. Thanks.

There shouldn't be any issue of bypassing the heater core.

It's no different than when you have the heat selector all the way on cold, no coolant flows through the heater core.
