As the title says I'm doing a JDM H22A swap in my 98 prelude base 5-speed. I have the engine mounted and everything hooked up and in time and it won't start. It turns over but alas nothing.
Ive replaced the spark plug wires (as well as the plugs themselves), rotor button, distributor cap and ignition coil. I've swapped everything from the USDM to the JDM prior to dropping it in the bay (Oil pump, crankshaft sensor, Intake Manifold, injectiors, fuel rail, distributor (as well as the ignition coil) all grounds are clean and tight (thermostat, left headlight, transmission, P/S pump). When I turn the key the fuel pump primes and the main relay clicks as well.
I'm literally out of ideas on what it could be any and all help would be greatly and very much appreciated! Bay shot of my 98 Prelude with the JDM H22A
Sounds like everything has been swapped over, so you need to check the big 3. Easiest is spark, then fuel and compression.
Also, since you swapped the oil pump, double/ triple check that the crank and cam gear timing is spot on, if the timing belt is off somewhere, that would be a big one as well.
I'm getting fuel did the ole sniff test on the plugs, timing is set by marks and compression is set to the flywheel markings. But to be sure there's compression I'm going to Autozone to pick up a compression tester to test for proper compression, as for spark the ignition coil is new as is the rotor cap button plugs and wires. Only thing I haven't checked is the dizzy lol
Can you pull out a plug and have someone try to turn the car over, and see spark if you ground it to the VC? Easy way to check if you are getting spark, if you don't have an ignition tester.
