aluminum oil pan how to - I just wanted to brag
Hey all, I just replaced the oil pan gasket on the 2000 EX sedan. And I didnt break any bolts. HOly smokes this is the first job on this car that a bolt didnt break.
to replace the oil pan gasket, its really easy (aluminum cast )
remove exhaust down pipe
remove bracket from engine to tranny
remove oil pan
take oil pan to diy car wash and power wash the heck out of the pan
new string gasket in the grove ( you might want to use super glue to hold the gasket in the groove, or RTV. I used super glue because if/when it leaks it will be someone elses problem
thin coat of rtv on the mating surface of the pan,
clean the block with finger nail polish remove ( Im the only male in the house hold so that was easy to come by)
put pan back on engine
put the nuts on first
then the bolts
torque all then down in a criss cross pattern ( a little goes a long way so dont crank down on them, about 8 pounds )
put back on the exhaust down pipe
Yahoo no leaks as of yet.
Now that I think about it, I am wondering if I should have put new bearings (rod) in while I had the pan off
I just wanted to brag, thanks for reading
