Default 97 D16Y7 battery light? (Solved)

ok so picked up a civic free 97 4 door with clearly the 1.6l. But here's the thing he hit another car and caused the fuse 15 to blow apparently so here's what I have done I replaced the alternator and made sure battery was good and have replaced the fuse and cleared the codes. Have started it and revved it plenty since then and codes have not come back but after replacing the fuse the battery light popped up nice and bright, I have no flicker from the dash when it is on I have checked voltage while running and it sits about 14.3v and off is 12.1v with all accessories on voltage doesn't change. I have checked the rear wires under the intake and someone has already gotten to them and taped up the wire but the connector doesn't connect to anything like I keep seeing it's got a block on it also has a gray one like it on the same harness spot the same way. Has a bit of an idle issue once warmed up now granted I am not able to drive it at the moment since I don't have plates yet but am trying to narrow this issue down. Will be changing the negative lead wire off battery cause it has some corrosion on the body end of it and will be changing both battery connections. Also if I disconnect the alternator connector the light goes out but I don't see how that tells anything other than there isn't a short somewhere else. Any suggestions I been searching and nothing seems to pan out. Sorry if this is in the wrong area new to forum hoping for some insight thanks. Names Tom

Make sure there is battery voltage on the "I" wire in the 4 pin plug at the alternator with the key on (this comes from fuse 15 through the harness). I think the wire is yellow and black,

If that is OK and the light goes out when you unplug alternator, alternator must be turning it on even though it is generating. The only way to fix that is replace the alternator or the voltage regulator module inside the alternator.

Would there be anything else that could be popping the light? It wasn't on before the fuse blew. Could a bad ground cause the light but not Be affecting the way the motor is running?

A loose alt belt can do this too.

Yeah I work at autozone, and my autozone alternator for my hx has an improperly torqued main bearing that puts too much pressure on the brushes. It can sound like a lifter at times
